OKX has appointed Linda Lacewell as its new chief legal officer (CLO) following the departure of Mauricio Beugelmans. Lacewell, who joined the crypto exchange as a board member last year after serving as Superintendent of the New York Department of Financial Services, will lead the exchange as it expands into key markets such as Europe and the U.A.E. Beugelmans’ departure is reportedly related to penalties of over $500 million paid by OKX to the U.S. Department of Justice for facilitating more than $5 billion in suspicious transactions and criminal proceeds.
